Rob and Shauna

I adore a lot of people and I have many "dear" friends, (which is a trait I gladly inherited from my mother) and I am thrilled that these "dear" friends asked me to do their wedding cake. Rob and Shauna are a wonderful couple. From first glance they appear like any other couple but as time passes you realize they are a dynamic duo, a hysterical pair that will have you falling in love with them and leave you wanting more. They chose a tahitian vanilla bean cake with vine-ripe strawberries and a citrus cream filling.

Solar Decathlon

A few weeks ago my husband and I took a trip down to the Na
tional Mall and were pleasantly surprised to find out the Solar Decathlon was taking place. It is an international competition where 20 teams "build" eco-friendly houses on the Mall and after they are judg
ed they are open to the public for a wa
lk-through. I am thrilled with the entire events but the kindness of Brad working with the team from Ontario was what really struck me. A few days after I had seen the houses
inprogress I decided to take my friends little girls down to look at the "little
houses". The 3 yr. old twins Roxanne and Isabelle were enamored! We stopped to watch a man working by a saw and moved one, a few minutes later the same man, Brad, caught up to us and talked to the girls for the better part of half an hour about what he and others were doing. I was shocked that one of the competitors would stop what he was doing to explain the process to two 3 year old girls. I was so impressed with his
kindness that the next day I made 20 dozen cookies (1 dozen per house) and Roxanne and
Isabelle delivered them to each house. Everyone loves a cookie handed to them by a 3 ft. munchkin with curls.
